Join us at the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum for an evening of art and poetry. The Ohio Poetry Association is pleased to announce publication of its new book from OPA Press, titled A Rustling and Waking Within. The book represents an anthology of poetry from Ohio poets under the editorship of Sharon Fish Mooney, former Coshocton resident.
The poems are 'ekphrastic,' meaning that each is inspired by a visual work of art. In this case, the featured art comes from one of the many art venues in Ohio, including the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum. Readers of the book will experience a poetic as well as visceral 'tour' of the arts in Ohio as perceived through the poetic medium.
The evening will include readings by some of the poets, including local poets Sharon Mooney, Robin Mullet, Janet Ladrach, Mark Hersman, Holli Rainwater, and Michael Rainwater (in absentia). The readings will be accompanied by full-screen projected visuals of the work of the art that inspired them.
Copies of the anthology will be available for purchase and signing. This event is sponsored by the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum and the Coshocton Public Library and is free and open to the public.
